The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled against a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for large employers, giving more clarity to a divisive issue that has loomed over businesses for months.Supreme Court Justices narrowly blocked the enforcement of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Emergency Temporary Standard, which stipulates businesses with 100 or more employees require their employees be vaccinated or be tested weekly and wear masks if they choose to not get vaccinated. The full opinion is available here.However, a vaccine mandate from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services that applies to workers in the health care sector is being allowed to stand, according to various media reports.The January 13 ruling on the vaccine mandate for large employers comes three days after OSHA’s Temporary Standard took effect.
